Terms of Service
Version 2026-06-01
These Terms govern your use of SimpleStub (the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, don’t use the Service.
1. What SimpleStub is, and is not
SimpleStub is a self-serve tool that helps you generate and store pay statements (“pay stubs”) from information you provide. It is not payroll: it does not file taxes, remit withholdings, move money, or run direct deposit. It is not tax, accounting, legal, or financial advice, and it is not an income- or employment-verification service. Tax tables and calculations are provided on a best-effort basis and may change; you are responsible for confirming that any figure is correct for your situation.
2. Your responsibilities
You are solely responsible for:
- the accuracy and truthfulness of every detail you enter (wages, hours, identities, tax elections, EIN, and all other data);
- ensuring you are authorized to act for the business and the people you create stubs for;
- complying with all applicable laws (federal, state, and local employment, tax, and wage-and-hour rules); and
- how any document you generate is used, shared, or relied upon.
SimpleStub is for real employers issuing accurate pay stubs to real employees. Creating false or novelty pay stubs is fraud and a violation of these Terms.
3. Acceptable use
You may not use SimpleStub to create false, inflated, fictitious, or “novelty” pay stubs, to misrepresent income or employment, to commit fraud, or to deceive any lender, landlord, government agency, or other party. Doing so is a breach of these Terms and may be a crime. We may suspend or terminate accounts and preserve or disclose records where we believe in good faith it is necessary to comply with law or prevent misuse.
4. Verification feature
Where enabled, a verification link or code only confirms that a statement was issued through your SimpleStub account and matches our stored record. It is not a certification of income or employment and does not validate the truth of the underlying data.
5. No warranty
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that calculations, tax tables, or output are error-free or suitable for filing.
6. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, SimpleStub and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any lost profits, taxes, penalties, fines, or losses arising from your use of (or inability to use) the Service or from any document you create. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of the amounts you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or US$100.
7. Indemnification
You will indemnify and hold harmless SimpleStub and its operators from any claims, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your data, your use of the Service, your documents, or your breach of these Terms or the law.
8. Changes & termination
We may update the Service and these Terms; material changes are reflected by a new version above, and your continued use means acceptance. You may stop using the Service at any time. Compliance records may be retained as required by law.
